Package Arrived!

My package of clothing arrived and I am so excited to share it with all of you. I have taken pictures (of me, of course) in the clothing and slightly accessorized with shoes or a bag.

The first dress is blue with some white; the back has a cut out. The dress is not figure flattering but it is so retro with a 1970s vibe. I paired the dress with simple sandals, though cowboy boots would look great as well.

U.S. of Tara

I love United States of Tara! What a great show. The basic premise is of Tara Gregson who has dissociative identity disorder, and is a mother of 2 children and a wife. The woman has multiple personalities including T (a 16 year old slut), Alice (an old-school housewife), Buck (a Vietnam vet; male), and 2 new personalities have recently arose: Gimme (pre-social being) and Shoshana (therapist to Tara). Shoshana is a new character and has inspired (or added to my old love of) 1970's style dresses. The clothing Shoshana wears are flowy dresses with a cute brown, leather belt and brown boots. I love the style of the 1970's. The dresses I love are not too tight yet still show off your figure (due to belting or some other feature). Shoshana's outfits are absolutely adorable and has encouraged my most recent shopping spree. I got a couple loose fitting dresses that have a cute pattern and are very old-school styled. Obviously when I get the package in the mail, I will take a picture of the dresses.

Anyways the show is very educational on top of being entertaining. Everyone has multiple parts of their personality and although Tara's case is most extreme, I see this being part of all human beings. Depending on who is around, a person will exhibit different tendencies and personality traits. Therefore, next time you start to judge someone for acting differently in front of you compared to in front of other people, take a step back and try to think about why your friend is doing this.

Dog Poop by The Street Monitors

As the spring sun browns their skin, the girls look down the street, littered with people coming to and from their lives. The sun is especially hot with the rays attracted to the silver rooftop on which they sit. One stroller caught their eye. As the seemingly tardy student turns the sharper corner of Euclid and Livingston, the Husky he’s walking is simply just trying to find a place for his business. Put bluntly, the dog is just trying to take a dump. Within 40 feet of street laid out before them, the girls monitor the Husky’s eager attempts at stopping. Adamant dog lovers, the girls’ compassion towards the Husky was immense. As their anxiety is building, it is too much for M and she screams out “Let the dog poop! He just wants to poop!” Laughter erupts as if from upon the rooftop, and with the blossoming spring trees as the girls’ coverage, the boy believed it was a message from a higher being.

Boy Skateboarding by The Street Monitors

With the sound of wheels grinding pavement, the street monitors looks down on the sidewalk from their porch. The boys were feeling good, girls attention on them and it was a warm spring day. One of the friends crosses the curb successfully and continues skating down Euclid. The girls watch as the other boy begins to cross the curb. Two seconds later he is knee-deep in a muddy puddle along the street. Red faced with embarrassment of having 3 houses of porches watching the fall, the boy quickly got up to go on his way. Amusing yet endearing, the girls yelled out words of encouragement. The line that painted a bright smile across his face, a simple, “Don’t worry, you’ll be okay. It really wasn’t a big deal.” Glancing with hopeful eyes for a more victorious ride down the rest of Euclid, the boy and his friend go back to boarding as if he had forgotten the fall already.

The Street Monitors Online

L., my roommate, has agreed to let the Street Monitoring short story adventures be posted on my blog. YAY! They are super cute. Hope you enjoy. I will attach the first two after this post. Comment and question. :)

Peas in a Pod

A while ago I found the cutest necklace. I never bought it because, of course, I forgot about it. But as I was sifting through my bookmarked internet pages, I came across it once again. 'Like Peas in a Pod Charm Necklace' by Eclectic Eccentricity Jewellery is super cute. One day I will have this necklace in my possession, or a like-necklace. I love the idea of wearing "peas in a pod" and having a friend having the same necklace or having a friend buy it for you or you buy it for a friend. The idea of "peas in a pod" is very symbolic and meaningful, at least for me. :)

Flower Print Over the Knee

I am a shopping fiend. I won't lie or deny it. I might as well tell you now so you know what you are getting yourself into as you immerse yourself into this blog. Anyways...

As I was going about my daily 'searching the internet for great clothing and deals', I came across a beautiful pair of over the knee socks. Ozone Japan Bordeaux Flower Print Cotton Over The Knee Socks (OTK) from www.artisansocks.com. The socks are exquisite. When I get them in the mail, I will take a picture in them for you but until here is a picture of them from the website.... Does anyone know where I could buy a dress that is similar to the one in the picture? Asymmetric hem, lace dress?

Being Productive with Free Time

My roommate and I consider ourselves 'The Street Monitors' because we constantly sit outside our apartment. We watch people walk about their daily lives and yell them words of encouragement and knowledge. Yesterday as we were sitting on the roof, we decided to turn our monitoring sessions into a few short stories. With L.'s approval, I will be posting the stories within the day.

It was very nice to be productive while relaxing with a friend. All too often I find myself having fun with friends by partaking in non-wholesome behaviors. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy to drink and get wild with friends but I also like to have an intellectual conversation and to chill in a way that my mind is bolstered, not depleted.

A wholesome activity that I suggest everyone, at some point in their lives, partake in is ballroom dancing. It was super exciting and was a great exercising class. I had tons of fun learning inter-generational and multi-cultural dances. It was something I could share with anyone.

I enjoy to be productive with my free time. I can color, do word puzzles, read, or write, as long as my mind is working, I am happy.
