Boy Skateboarding by The Street Monitors

With the sound of wheels grinding pavement, the street monitors looks down on the sidewalk from their porch. The boys were feeling good, girls attention on them and it was a warm spring day. One of the friends crosses the curb successfully and continues skating down Euclid. The girls watch as the other boy begins to cross the curb. Two seconds later he is knee-deep in a muddy puddle along the street. Red faced with embarrassment of having 3 houses of porches watching the fall, the boy quickly got up to go on his way. Amusing yet endearing, the girls yelled out words of encouragement. The line that painted a bright smile across his face, a simple, “Don’t worry, you’ll be okay. It really wasn’t a big deal.” Glancing with hopeful eyes for a more victorious ride down the rest of Euclid, the boy and his friend go back to boarding as if he had forgotten the fall already.
