I always tell people this blog is related to food but I never write food related posts. Here is my first of many.
My next door neighbor recently sent me a great chicken recipe. For me, chicken is used almost 4 nights a week if not more so it is WONDERFUL when I find a new recipe to try. I make homemade chicken nuggets often and recently began making a mean Sweet and Sour sauce to accompany it. The sauce is some ketchup, clear vinegar, and jelly (I use a pineapple jelly with pieces of pineapple chunks). I eyeball the amounts as should you. It is up to your taste buds to decide what flavors you want stronger or weaker. The sauce is incredible. Try it and enjoy it.

CHICKEN AND RICE WITH A KICK:
l lb skinless chicken breast cubed
l package frozen sweet coen
l package frozen bay peas
1 cup chicken broth
l cup salsa (I use a little more)
1-1/2 cups minute rice (I use a little more)
l. Heat oil in large skillet on medium high heat
2. Add chicken and stir until chicken is cooked through and a little brown
3. Add thawed out peas and corn (I wipe them off with a paper towel to get rid of moisture) chicken broth and salsa
4. Bring to a boil
5. Stir in rice and cover and put over low to medium heat approximately 5 minutes. Stir
6. Remove and let stand covered. If there is too much liquid left put over low heat for a few minutes intil it's almost gone and let stand.
7. Make sure rice is cooked.
8. Serve with a salad. It's a great, tasty healthy meal
You can make it and reheat in microwave with a little water, covered, if too dry but we usually eat it as soon as I make it. (I use the apricot salsa from Costco).

What?! I am not a LEO anymore.. New Zodiac Sign
Ophiuchus - a "new" zodiac sign. The only sign based off a real man. The physical representation of the sign if a man holding a serpent (snake). Ophiuchus is also known as Serpentarius.
This is actually not a new zodiac sign. It is not followed by all zodiac calendars. Tropical Astrology does not perceive this as an actual zodiac sign. The real this sign is not followed or widely known is because the Sun only spends 19 days in this sign so astrologers just ignore it. For 19 days, the Sun travels through the constellation Ophiuchus before going into Sagittarius. - notable father (apple of father's eye when young)
- high position in life expected (though legend and most fame comes after death)
- feelings of granular, wise, genius mentality

Back in Berlin
Amsterdam flight got cancelled and we had to take trains to reach Amsterdam. The story is ridiculous and is worth forgetting. If anyone is really interested, email me. Amsterdam was so much fun. M and I met up with MG and his girlfriend. It was so great to wander the city with the 3 of them and to explore places that I had never been. After the Amsterdam trip came the Munich adventure. I spent Christmas and New Years in Munich. While in Munich, I went to the club P1. It was a lot of fun - dancing and meeting people. I also spent time at M's friends apartments as well as local restaurants and family events. Christmas was very nice. Family coming together to celebrate anything - but holidays specifically - is the best use of time. Family is so important and everyone should not forget that. Family is not always just blood related individuals - family are people you can confide in, feel comfortable around, and go to in times of need.
Anyways I am back in Berlin now and had such an encounter at dinner last night:
At dinner (at a local Tapas restaurant) M and I were waiting for the food so I was snacking on bread. This woman at the table next to us said "Wie krank ist das den?" (my German spelling may be off but I am trying!) and I said "what" and she said it again. Max and her had a few words and then he told me. She said "how sick is that" to what I was eating. She thought balsamic vinegar with bread was gross - and told M that in Italy people eat bread with oil. M told her to mind her own business. She is a cranky, lonely old woman but she is so representative of Berlin. People in Berlin are way more open to telling you their negative thoughts on your behavior. If they see someone committing an unlawful act, or even just something they find gross, the people do not hesitate to offer their opinion - bad or worse. Coming from America where people are extra polite and mind only their own business, the Berlin lifestyle and people are so strange to me. But strange is good. It helps people (me in this situation) reevaluate their own ideas of right from wrong and to learn more about the surrounding world.
I will attempt to be a better blogger - but no promises. As usual, email me and comment on the posts!
Next time I encounter the crazy mean woman from dinner - or anyone similar to her - I will say : Bring mich nicht auf die Palme!

Off to Amsterdam :)
In just a few hours, M and I will be landing in Amsterdam. I am super excited to be going back to Amsterdam - it is one of the most eclectic and exciting cities I have ever visited. Last time I was there, I biked the city and spent most of my time outdoors; but now that it is winter, public transportation and hanging out inside the coffee shops is how my time will be spent. I hope this Amsterdam excursion will bring happiness and calmness to my hectic life. I have felt overwhelmed recently - with being in a country that I do not speak the main language, to waking up early to go to an internship where I am not being challenged enough, to just feeling a little sick due to the winter weather. I feel the tides are changing :)
I wish everyone a Happy Winter and to enjoy their time with family and friends.
Updates soon to come!!
BTW, everyone should wish that our plane does not get delayed. Knock on some wood. Throw some salt over your shoulder. Whatever works. The weather conditions are getting me nervous - especially since my plane ride to Berlin never actually landed in Berlin. My plane situations are not the best but I am totally hoping and wishing for the best - hope you all do too!

Triad: the Internship
As of tomorrow and me signing the papers, I will be an intern at the company Triad - located in Berlin. I am super excited for this opportunity. I have been hesitant to find a "real job" but the ones I have been interested in are communication and public relations oriented - this job is in both fields. The job also lets me use the Politics and Philosophy majors I studied.
Since the internship is 3 months long, I will need to look into getting a residence visa. Germany allows USA citizens to stay in Germany for up to 90 days - and I will be in Germany around 2 weeks over the alloted time. It is not SUCH a big deal (I am assuming) but I would rather be safe than sorry. I need to find a real paying job so I can pay rent and food... :(
Real life is harder than it seems. Real life. I thought all life is real but I am finding out that living on your own money is a very different life than living off someone else's money. Anyways I am excited for the internship - although I cannot share details about what goes on during it (contract forbids me to) - and I will try to keep you all updated on how it is going and new things I learn. Tschues! (Bye in German)

Berlin: Week 1 - 2
Finally back to blogging. I am currently living at Legiendamm in Berlin, Germany - the apartment is overlooking where the Berlin wall once stood. Berlin is filled with so many types of people and nationalities and personalities - old women with bright blue hair, little girls with big nose piercings, teenage boys with multiple holes throughout their face - pretty much there is just a huge eclectic scene of people. Punks, anarchists, musicians. In the U-bon, you will see people from all walks of life - lawyers sitting next to the homeless sitting next to a man playing the banjo sitting next to regular people. There are so many musicians - it is wonderful. Almost every times I am on the U-bon, a musician gets on my section/wagon to play for a few Euro. I love the diversity of music and people. I went to an underground rap battle place - it is called the cypher where people pass around the mic and rap to each other and people around. Once a night, they play battle games. It was really neat. I did not understand every rapper since they rapped in German - but they rap so fast that M does not even understand what they say. I also went to two concerts at Quasimodo (where M works) - I saw SouLive and 55.
This past weekend I went to 2 Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas markets) - heaven for me! Hundreds of different stands selling little trinkets, food, games, and anything related to Christmas. I love trinkets so these markets are the place for me. We went to to Gendarmenmarkt - which is located in a famous square in Germany. Gendarmenmarkt is the nicest Weihnachtsmarkt - and it costs a Euro to enter which is very uncommon for the Christmas markets. There was a stand inside that let you literally try every thing they had (balsamic vinegars, mustards, salsas, and alcoholic drinks) for free. I tried every flavor of balsamic vinegar and mustard, and tried a couple salsas. I was nervous to drink too much of the alcoholic beverages due to my tendency to break out in hives from alcohol. We bought Gluehwein which is a hot red wine - known in Germany during Christmastime - it frequently contains alcohol of choice (amaretto, rum, gin). Yum yum.
